Nathan and I have decided to give IVF one more attempt this year. We are doing it a little different this time. We are going to the CZECH REPUBLIC!!!!! What???, you may say, but yes we always do things a little different. I was told about a website, My IVF Alternatives, from a friend of mine that also went to the Czech to do IVF treatments. After looking into what they have to offer we have also decided to go to the Czech republic in hopes of finally getting pregnant.
We are planning our trip May 8, 2012. We will need to be over there for 2 weeks. We are flying into Prague, then taking a train to Brno, Czech Republic. This is where the clinic is at where all the procedures will be taking place. I have started my monophasic birth control already. The birth control is used to regulate my cycle. A week before we go I will start my injections to start the process of producing multiple eggs. From my research the Czech focuses more on quality not quantity of eggs produced. We anticipate that I will have fewer eggs and are better quality eggs than I had during our 1st round of IVF. Different medications are used. Gonal F is used this time. We will need to be in the Czech on my 7th day of my injections. When we arrive in Brno, I will start all my monitoring (ultrasounds and labs). I should only have to go to the clinic a few times, the monitoring, retrieval and transfer of embryos. We plan on doing the transfer on May 20th, if all works out perfectly. The rest of the time we plan on PLAYING in EUROPE!!!! We will blog and video everything as usual.
Now you say WHY are you going so far away. Well I will tell you, it is cheaper a lot cheaper. Our last round of IVF was about $12,500 and as you know we did not get pregnant. Our Fertility MD here wanted to just change one medication and charge us another $12,500, that was not good enough for me. I did not feel that we would have very good luck. The Czech Republic charges around $6,000 for all procedures and meds. Now with our travel costs and surviving 2 weeks in the Czech it will be about $8,000. This deals sounds AWESOME!!!. Other than vacationing for 2 weeks in Europe and hopefully getting pregnant, the success rates are higher in the Czech also. The success rates at the clinic that we are going to has a 55% pregnancy rate. That is good in the IVF world. As the time approaches we will keep you guys updated and maybe throw a video log in so you all can see our pretty faces too.
We need MAJOR prayer power again, we need safe travels and a pregnant belly. Thank you so much for all your love and support.
